The Lagos State Government has refuted a social news article that claimed the State will provide means to vote to interested civil servants residing in Ogun State.

The State Government has no knowledge of the false information, according to a statement released on Wednesday and signed by Adesoye Oyelami for the Special Adviser on Education.

According to the refuted news, the State government asked Lagos State Civil Servants who reside in any area of Ogun State and wish to participate in the March 11 gubernatorial and State Assembly elections to forward their voting information in order to make special arrangements. This request was made through the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Special Adviser on Education.

“The attention of the Lagos State Government, through the Office of the Special Adviser on Education has been drawn to a FALSE and misleading information going round on Social media and other platforms, indicating that the State government through the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Special Adviser on Education is requesting the Lagos State Civil Servants, living in any part of Ogun State and who would like to vote on Saturday in any area in Lagos State to forward their names, MDAs, Oracle Nos and pictures of their PVC to a particular number for any special arrangement or mobilization to their pulling Units and back to their various destinations after voting.” the statement reads.

“Members of the public are enjoined to disregard the information and consider it as fake news.

“The news did not emanate from the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Special Adviser on Education as claimed.

“If there is going to be any assistance in that regard, the State Government has appropriate Communication Channels it can use to reach its dependable workforce.”
