INEC DEBUNKS REPORT ON ALLEGED APPOINTMENT OF A PARTISAN PERSON AS HEAD OF ICT
The independent National Electoral Commission, has debunked a report about the appointment of one Femi Odubiyi, a Former Commissioner in Lagos as the Head of Information Communication and Technology of the commission.
The Commission stated that the publicized report that has been attributed to a well known Lagos politician, Chief Olabode George is not true.
This was mentioned in a statement which was signed by Barr. Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee.
The statement reads, “The attention of the Commission has been drawn to a widely publicized report attributed to a well known Lagos politician, Chief Olabode George, that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INE) has appointed one Femi Odubiyi, a former commissioner in Lagos State and another associate of a prominent politician, as its head of ICT. Nothing can be further from the truth.
“To set the record straight, the name “Femi Odubiyi” does not even exist in our ICT department at the INEC headquarters in Abuja or any State of the Commission.”
“Our ICT staffs are career officers of the Commission. None as held any political appointment in any State of the Federation.”
“The public is urged to disregard the story. Its promoter should have been circumspect, so as not to be seen as purveyor of fake news.”
