2023 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTIONS: ELECTIONS POSTPONED IN 10 PUs IN VGC, LAGOS STATE
10 polling units have had their elections postponed by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the Victoria Garden City area of Lagos state.
Segun Agbaje, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State stated this when addressing reporters on Saturday.
Agbaje said NYSC corps members deployed as ad hoc staff in the area were hesitant to set up in the estate because they were allegedly held hostage during the just concluded Presidential elections.
The ad hoc staff set up outside the estate gate however but residents said they did not feel safe going outside to cast their votes. This is because of the fear of hoodlums interference in the electoral process.
“After due consultation and further directive from the national headquarters that we should remobilise here tomorrow (Sunday) morning by 8:30am to conduct the elections, by 8:30am tomorrow (Sunday) we will reconvene here.”
