(OPINION) THE HEALING PROCESS: PAUSE AND RETHINK

Read Time:1 Minute, 9 Second

Reading posts from some “Yoruba liberal minds” across social media has been both interesting and appalling.

Interesting because they are calling for an action that should be deliberately taken. Deliberate because in the narrative that were spewed on the eve and during the electioneering campaigns, will need to be understood for what it is worth on both ends; the Yoruba and the Igbo ends.

Appalling because most of the posts are self serving, the publishers can be seen trying to assert themselves in the scheme of things; while a few have been written with genuine concern for the peaceful coexistence of all and sundry.

For the self-serving pieces, I think writers should take a chill pill as it is absolutely impossible to judge a case on the account of one party in a case involving two parties.

A great and outspoken friend of mine suggested Sanwoolu visit all Igbo enclaves in the state, this may be right but where is the place of consultation with the leadership of the Igbo community who may be in the best position to advise the government on the best move to make.

A visit without appropriate consultation may become an embarrassment and can degenerate to break down of law and order.

While are at liberty to call Yoruba people to order, we might as well pass same message to our Igbo brothers.
