UPDATE: GUNMEN KILL FEMALE DOMESTIC WORKER, ABDUCT KOGI MONARCH
Gunmen believed to be bandits raided Aghara, an agrarian town in Kabba-Bunu local government area of Kogi State, on Tuesday and kidnapped the traditional ruler and another person.
The event, which has left the neighborhood in despair, happened at three in the morning.
According to reports, the attack claimed the lives of one person, named Toyin Onare, a domestic servant at the palace, and two others, Chief David Obadofin, the village’s traditional leader, and one Temidayo Elewa, who were both kidnapped.
The hoodlums were claimed to have entered the palace at three in the morning, according to SP William Aya, the spokesman for the Kogi State police command, who confirmed the event.
The domestic servant was left in a pool of blood when the gunmen carried the traditional leader and Temidayo off into the wilderness. However, one person managed to escape and tell the tale.
Toyin was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Kabba, the LGA’s administrative center, about 35 minutes away, where physicians declared her dead when they arrived.
SP Aya added that the Commissioner of Police, Hekeem Yusuf, has deployed tactical team of officers to the area to fish out the perpetrators and rescue the victim”.
The lack of contact from the kidnappers at the time this report was filed has increased the locals’ sense of concern.
