Workers, food sellers, building material suppliers, and visitors to the under construction building are among those trapped.
It was learned that the building was under construction and that the local government had once declared it unsafe, but government officials later reversed their decision and permitted the worker to continue working.
According to a witness, Mathew, “I know about ten workers are under the rubbles, but I don’t know how many visitors are there because food vendors, material suppliers, and other visitors are constantly coming to the site.”
I know a man named Engineer who was present when the building collapsed. When we observed what had transpired, we phoned the police and several emergency numbers. They are still attempting to save the victims.”
Mr. Ibrahim Falinloye, spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Southwest Zone, verified that a structure had collapsed on First Avenue, Banana Island, Ikoyi.NEMA and other emergency responders are hard at work, but I don’t know how many individuals are still trapped.”
