PRINCE LUKMAN GBADEGESIN EMERGES ALAAFIN-ELECT TO SUCCEED LATE OBA ADEYEMI III
Prince Lukman Adelodun Gbadegesin has reportedly emerged as the Alaafin-elect to succeed the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III as the new monarch of Oyo.
Announcement of the succession of Gbadegesin is reportedly imminent from the governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde one year after the passing of the late monarch Adeyemi.
He said to have been chosen by the Oyomesi among the princes who presented themselves for the selection to the vacant stool of Alaafin.
Gbadegesin hails from the Gbadegesin family of the Agunloye Ruling House.
He is a grandchild of Alaafin Gbadegesin Ladigbolu II, the predecessor of Alaafin Lamidi Adeyemi III. Gbadegesin was a former Personal Assistant to Alhaji Aruna Elewi, a minister of state for communication during the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.
He is also reported to have been an associate of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is also the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections.
