SUPERSTAR BOXER DEONTAY WILDER ARRESTED ON GUN CHARGE
Former world heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder has been arrested and jailed on Tuesday after a gun was allegedly found in his vehicle, reports confirmed.
He was reportedly been pulled over by LAPD police while driving his Rolls Royce at 1:15am on Tuesday morning in Hollywood.
According to the report, Wilder also had obscured registration plates and illegally tinted windows. Police claim they searched the vehicle after smelling smoked marijuana.
They then reportedly discovered the 9mm pistol in the 37-year-old’s car.
The report stated that Wilder, who boasts a professional record of 43 wins from 46 fights, was bonded out of prison at 6:34am for just over £28,000.
He is said to have been taken into custody on the charge of possession of a concealed weapon, and was reportedly ‘concealed and nice’ during the arrest.
According the The Mirror, Wilder was booked at 3:13am, meaning he spent just over three hours behind bars.
He has since been assigned a court date of May 23 set in Los Angeles, where he could face a felony charge and be fined up to just over £8,000.
It’s now unclear what is next for Wilder in terms of both his career and personal life.
His anticipated heavyweight match against Anthony Joshua in December may no longer happen as a result of the arrest.
The two camps have reportedly been in negotiations over a bout, but they may now have hot a stumbling block.
