LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT RE-SEALS 12 STRUCTURES IN BANANA ISLAND
Twelve structures have been resealed, and two unlawful fences have been torn down thanks to efforts by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA), and the State Task Force.
The exercise followed the instructions given by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on construction on Banana Island and the surrounding area.
The buildings were sealed for a number of infractions, according to the operation’s general manager, Gbolahan Oki, including the construction of unapproved structures, failing to get LASBCA approval before beginning construction, and violating the official seal.
Oki emphasized that the ongoing demolition and sealing of those structures in Banana Island as well as other parts of the state was intended to compel compliance and restore order to the built environment.
Recall that a seven-story structure that was being built on Banana Island just collapsed, killing one person.
Governor Sanwo-Olu swiftly visited the site for an on-the-spot examination, as a result of which he stopped all further building on the island and its surroundings.
