
RRS ARRESTS ELECTRICITY CABLE THIEF IN LAGOS
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a suspected cable thief in possession of a 20-metre long cable belonging to the Lagos State Electricity Board around the Old Toll Gate, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin tweeted this on Thursday.
He said: “The suspect, Benjamin Iggba ‘m’ aged 20, was apprehended by RRS officers patrolling the Old Toll Gate, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023. He and three others who subsequently fled upon sighting the police patrol vehicle were attempting to load the cable into a Volkswagen Golf.
Additionally, two diggers, one shovel and armoured cables were recovered from him during his arrest.
While the suspect is currently facing prosecution, the Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, has charged his men to intensify efforts to arrest the three fleeing suspects.
