FUEL SUBSIDY IS GONE – TINUBU
Nigeria’s new President, Bola Tinubu says subsidy on fuel will be removed, claiming the 2023 Budget made no provision for fuel subsidy.
Following his inauguration as Nigeria’s 16th president, Tinubu said in his inaugural speech at Eagle Square that “the fuel subsidy is gone” and that “subsidy payment is no longer justifiable.”
He promised a “unified exchange rate” and vowed to rid Nigeria of terrorism and criminality.
Tinubu noted that his adminisistratiion will remodel the economy to bring about growth without engendering inflation as well as develop the Gross Domestic Product through job creation. The new President said he will end extreme poverty, make food more abundant, ensure inclusion for women and youths and discourage corruption.
On the issue of security, Tinubu stated that “shall be top of our administration,” saying neither prosperity nor justice can prevail amidst insecurity.
He added that his aministration will reform security architecture, invest more in security personnel, better training and provide better equipment for security personnel.
