10TH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY LEADERSHIP: BENJAMIN KALU EMERGES AS DEPUTY SPEAKER UNOPPOSED
Benjamin Kalu, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress who was unopposed, has been declared winner as the Deputy Speaker.
While the newly elected Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, contested against two aspirants, Kalu emerged as Deputy Speaker of the House unopposed.
Three hundred and fifty nine Members-elect voted to elect the two Presiding Officers of the 10th session House of Representatives.
Confirming that there were no other nominations for the position, the Clerk to the National Assembly, Sani Tambuwal, swore in Kalu as Deputy Speaker immediately.
He was the spokesperson of the 9th National Assembly.
