Maruf Abdullahi, better known as Trinity Guy, was remanded in Agodi correctional facility on Monday by a Family Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, for alleged sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl.
Along with the skit maker, Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife, Rofiat, 29, were prosecuted in court on two counts of conspiracy and sexual abuse and exploitation.
Mrs P.O. Adetuyibi, the Magistrate who refused to hear the defendants’ plea for lack of jurisdiction, stated that the case file had been submitted and duplicated at the Oyo State Ministry of Justice.
Adetuyibi committed the three offenders to the Agodi Correctional Facility, Ibadan, until July 11th, when the case will be heard.
Mr Oludare Adebayo, the Defence Counsel, claimed that Section 41 empowered the court to hear the case.
Adebayo further stated that the victim was a victim of poverty.
The magistrate stated that the case file had been duplicated, but that she could not hear the case unless the Ministry of Justice agreed to withdraw it.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Oluwakemi Arowosaye, had previously informed the court that the three defendants colluded to sexually abuse the girl.
Arowosaye claimed that “Trinity” sexually molested and exploited the girl in the Kuolaa neighborhood of Ibadan on December 17, 2022.
“Abdullahi was asking the victim the colour of his penis, recording the scene and posting it on social media,” she said.
According to her, the offences are contrary to Section 35 (1) and punishable under Section 35 (2) of Oyo State Child Right’s Law, 2006.
Arowosaye said that the offences also contravened Section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
However, if the skit maker is found guilty of the offence, he is liable to 15 years imprisonment under the Child Right’s Law, 2006.
