SIMI – WHY I ACCEPTED ADEKUNLE GOLD’S PROPOSAL
By Adeniyi Onaara
Simi, a popular singer, has revealed how her husband, Adekunle Gold, captured her heart and convinced her to date him before he eventually proposed.
Simi confessed that she had no idea her husband was sending DMs on her Facebook page to seek her attention.
She claimed that she only realized this when they began dating much later in the year and met at a show.
In an interview with ‘The Beat 99.9 FM’ in Lagos, the ‘Duduke’ crooner stated, “In the gospel community, I was pretty well known.” And he [Adekunle Gold] had also heard my album at the time.”He has been messaging me on Facebook and DMing me on Facebook.
“However, I didn’t notice those DMs until we started dating.”I’m not sure how we eventually reconnected. I had a show scheduled for Bogobiri, and he showed there. He was pretty skinny at the moment, dressed in white BYC and jeans. He came to see what I was doing. ‘Oh, hey!’ I said. ‘Oh! I’m such a fan,’ he exclaimed. And I said, ‘Okay!’ [laughs]
“I’m not sure, but he must have been persistent since a friendship grew out of it. He struck me as a genuinely pleasant guy. We became friends, and he asked me out later that year.
“I mean, as much as I sounded like that, I still didn’t have anything.” He was a nice guy and I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t mind a nice guy’ [laughs].”
