TIWA SAVAGE TO BECOME FIRST FEMALE AFROBEATS SINGER TO PERFORM AT WEMBLEY ARENA
By Adeniyi Onaara
Tiwa Savage has been charting the route for the female end of the African music business for over a decade.
Tiwa Savage has ascended to the top of the Nigerian music business since her debut in the early 2010s with a string of successful singles, with her music earning her multiple accolades and millions of followers worldwide.
Tiwa Savage is slated to become the first female Afrobeats artist to headline the 13,000-person capacity Wembley Arena in the United Kingdom.
Tiwa Savage discussed her journey to superstardom, the effect of her Nigerian background on her music, and performed at Prince Charles’ coronation on The Good Morning Britain Show, and her upcoming show in the UK.
When asked about the growth of Afrobeats, Tiwa Savage claimed that black music, including Hip Hop and Soul, began with African slaves, therefore Afrobeats’ international recognition is a full circle because it is the root.
Tiwa Savage was born in Nigeria and raised there until she left at the age of 11 to pursue her secondary and university education in the United Kingdom. Tiwa Savage says her Nigerian roots are ingrained in her songs, and she always blends English and Yoruba to highlight her dual inspirations.
Tiwa Savage also expressed her gratitude for being invited to play at King Charles III’s coronation event, where she was the first Nigerian singer to do so.
The award-winning singer is due to headline the Wembley OVO Arena on November 26, 2023, in what she claims would be an unforgettable performance.
