SPORTING LAGOS COMEBACK WIN AGAINST AKWA UNITED SET UP NAIJA SUPER 8 FINAL SHOWDOWN WITH REMO STARS
By Oduola F.A.
Sporting Lagos have made it to the final of the Naija Super 8 tournament after coming from behind to beat Akwa United.
The team endured a slow start to the game with goalkeeper, Christian putting away several efforts from Akwa United.
However, Sporting Lagos couldn’t hold on till halftime as Cyril Olisemah converted from the spot in the 42nd minute to give Akwa United the lead following a blunder from Christian.
The Lagos-based team grew slowly into the game after the break, missing a number of efforts.
Their equalizer came through a 55th minute tap in from Saturdy Okon, who took advantage of a well weighted pass from Jonathan Alukwu.
Alukwu scored the second goal through a close ranged header to put Sporting Lagos in front for the first time in the match.
They endured a difficult last 20 minutes as they worked hard to see off their lead.
With the win, Sporting Lagos have now set up a showdown against their group stage rival, Remo Stars in the final on Sunday.
Remo had earlier defeated Lobi Stars 2-1 in their Semi final clash that was played earlier in the day.
