FINIDI GEORGE STILL OUR HEAD COACH – ENYIMBA
By F.A. Oduola.
Enyimba have debunked reports suggesting head coach, Finidi George has been sacked.
It was reported earlier that sporting director of the club, Ifeanyi Ekwueme through a statement announced the sacking of Finidi and his technical crew members.
The report suggested that Ekwueme directed all club’s members of staff, management and technical crew members to re-apply within the next 48 hours.
The club have however confirmed that George is exempted from the exercise amnd will therefore remain as head coach.
Last season, the Super Eagles legend led Enyimba to a record ninth Nigeria Premier League title.
However, the NPL giants did not perform well in the recently finished inaugural Naija Super 8 tournament, crashing out of the group stage after losing two games and drawing one.
George attributed the team’s poor performance in the competition at Mobolaji Johnson Stadium to tiredness.
