By Aishat Momooh. O.
SP Wasiu Abiodun of the Niger State Police Command verified the kidnapping of two priests in the state.
Police tactical teams led by the DPO of Tafa Division, according to Abiodun, had been rushed to the scene.
“The church was discovered on the outskirts of town, about an hour’s drive from Sabon-Wuse, and surrounded by mountains and forest, close to the Kagarko area of Kaduna State.”
According to Abiodun, other seminarians in the area have been told to evacuate temporarily while the inquiry into the occurrence is underway.
On Thursday, gunmen suspected of being bandits kidnapped Fr. Paul Sanogo and Seminarian Melchior of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Gyedna, Garam Ward, in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.
Shots were reportedly fired into the air before the priests were carried away in the early hours of Thursday at their Gyedna house.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishop of Minna, Most Rev. Dr. Martin Igwe Uzoukwu, has asked church members to pray for the safe return of the kidnapped victims.
