INSECURITY: BANDITS KILL TWO, KIDNAP THREE OTHERS IN FRESH KADUNA ATTACK
In a recent raid at the Dogon Noma-Unguwan Gamu Community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, at least two people have been killed and four more have been abducted by bandits.
According to reports, the incident left several community members with bullet wounds.
Police in the state have not yet confirmed the attack, but Musa Yaro, a community leader in Kufana, told Channels Television that it occurred early on Friday when bandits broke into the neighbourhood and began shooting randomly, killing two people and robbing three others.
Bala Laya and Gimbiya Coaster were killed, while Set Alkali, Saviour Christopher, and Sico Nicholas were taken, according to the source.
Due to numerous bandit attacks, Kajuru Local Government Area has been in the headlines incorrectly for a number of years.
One of these horrific attacks took place on March 11, 2019, and resulted in 52 fatalities, the burning of over 200 homes, and the eviction of hundreds of residents.
The most recent incident comes shortly after the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) reported that over 200 churches had been closed and 23 pastors had been killed due to frequent bandit attacks in some areas of Kaduna State over the previous four years.
The data were revealed by the Kaduna State Chairman of the CAN, Reverend Joseph Hayab, during a meeting to establish trust with Christian leaders from the 23 local government areas and the state commissioner of police, Musa Garba.
“Let me say this to you Commissioner that over 200 churches in Kaduna have been shut down. The Baptist have over 115 churches shut down from Birni Gwari to Chukun and Kajuru, the churches are no longer there.
“When you go to many churches now you will see many pastors who come from churches that have been shut down because they cannot continue, that is the kind of situation we are facing.
“ECWA can tell you hundreds of their churches, Assemblies of God, the Catholic Church and many other churches. So, we are forced to shut down because of insecurity in Kaduna State, the Kaduna CAN Chairman said.
