LAGOS POLICE LAUNCHES SPECIAL INVESTIGATION TEAM INTO MOHBAD’S DEATH

The Lagos State Police Command has launched a 13-man Special Investigation team to investigate the sudden death of Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, made the announcement on Monday during a press brief.
The team is to carry out a discreet investigation which covers exhumation, Autopsy/toxicology/histology, visits to the crime scene, Hospital/Medical Report, Records of suspects/witnesses statements.
He assured that the team will thoroughly deliver a fair an open investigation which will lead to the submission of an interim report within the next two weeks.
“Following the death of one IleriOluwaOladimeji AKA Mohbad, ‘M’ aged 27yrs which occurred in the month of September 12th 2023, and in the overriding public interest, the Command has set up a special investigative team to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the victim, identify witnesses, culprits if any and any person that will be helpful to the investigative process and deploy processes and other technological tools to aid the investigative course in line with the relevant provisions of the Nigeria Constitution and the State Laws,”
“Today, we are constituting the panel and inaugurating these with the following terms of reference. First, to aggregate all allegations, suspicions, insinuations from all sources in the course of interaction with the family, friend, medical components with a view to establishing facts, identify pieces of vital evidence that may support criminal investigation.”
“The second is to deploy all forensic, technical and other vital assets that are relevant to the investigation of homicide cases of these nature towards supporting the investigation process.”
“The third is to identify all actors, elements that might be remotely or directly connected to the allegations that we are investigating, and this of course, I must emphasize includes witnesses.”
“Do not forget, we have unique access with INTERPOL. Everybody linked to it (the death of Mohbad) will be identified and they will be brought to establish their level of involvement,” CP Owohunwa stated.
He emphasized that the police is not undertaken a media trial, and criminal investigation or prosecution, which entails the support of the public in terms of volunteering pieces of evidence, no matter the quality.
CP Owohunwa stated that the Police will not leave any stone unturned in a bid to find the true cause of the death of the rising music star before his untimely death while, mentioning that those in connection with his death and trending videos on the issue on Social Media regarding his death will all be scrutinized for clues.
He however, called on Nigerians who are truly committed to ensure Justice for the Late singer to volunteer any piece of vital information in support of a detailed information
Recall that 27-year-old Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Records label, died last Tuesday and was buried the next day on Wednesday in Ikorodu area of the State.
