
KANO GOV MOURNS BELLO YUSUF, CONDOLES WITH FAMILY
The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has described the death of Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf as a colossal loss to his family and the entire nation.
Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf’s death has been regarded as a massive loss to his family and the entire nation by Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The governor said in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, that his death left a void that would be difficult to fill considering his position in society.
According to sources, Yusuf, a former senator from 1999 to 2007, died in the early hours of Friday in Kano at the age of 76.
While praying for the soul of the late Sardauna of Dutse, the governor also prayed for his family, Jigawa State, and asked God to grant the nation the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Yusuf, who was a senior technocrat, Islamic scholar, politician and business tycoon, served as the Minister of Internal Affairs and Commerce between 1979 and 1982.
He was also a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Jigawa State for multiple terms.
The funeral prayer for the late Senator Yusuf took place at the mosque of Kano Emir’s Palace after Jumaat prayer by 2:30pm.
“May his soul rest in the best part of Jannatul Firdausy, amin,” the statement concluded.
