The Lagos State Government has sealed up the popular Mile-12 and Owode Onirin Markets along Ikorodu Road in Kosofe Local Government Area, LGA, as part of its ongoing zero tolerance policy for environmental violations.
The state government made this announcement in the early hours of Friday.
The operation was carried out by joint enforcement units of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps/Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI stormed the markets to carry-out the operation.
The closure was ordered by the state Commissioner for the Environment, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, due to a failure to comply with state environmental laws of the state.
