LASG SHUTS ALABA INTERNATIONAL MARKET OVER ENVIRONMENTAL OFFENCES
Due to inappropriate rubbish disposal techniques, the Lagos State Government closed the Alaba International Market on Monday, October 23.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, made this announcement on Monday morning via a post on his X (formerly Twitter) profile.
He wrote: “Alaba International Market, Ojo has been sealed up for poor waste disposal practices, failure to pay their waste bills, and gross environmental sanitation offences.”
The Lagos State Government has been closing marketplaces and demolishing illegal construction; this closure is the most recent in the effort.
Due to environmental infractions, the Lagos State Government also shuttered the Ladipo Auto Parts Market and adjacent marketplaces.
After closing lately, the Mile 12 International Market is now open again.
Uncontrolled trash dumping on Ikorodu Road led to a similar fate for the Owode Onirin Market.
