OVER 50 DECOMPOSED BODIES FOUND IN ABIA LGA – GOV OTTI
The Lokpanta Cattle Market in the Umunneochi Local Government Area of the state is home to numerous human skeletons, over 20 decapitated bodies, and more than 50 rotting bodies, according to the Abia State Government.
This was revealed by Governor Alex Otti on Monday during his monthly media briefing at Government House in Umuahia.
He gave the populace the assurance that his administration is dedicated to taking on the problem of insecurity head-on without caring whose ox gets gored.
Otti claimed that since some brothels in Umunneochi had lately been shut down, the prostitution, drug trade, and other illegal vices around the Lokpanta Cattle Market made the raid necessary.
The governor declared that the Lokpanta market would start operating every day at 6 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.
He claimed that since areas have been given to livestock dealers and other enterprises, the market would now function as a general market.
He declared in public that, in order to guarantee proper security, his administration will fence the market in an equal amount.
He claimed that the administration’s plan to establish a daily market was motivated by the legendary kidnapping and armed robbery in the Lokpanta area.
Even if the policy was misinterpreted, he claimed that during a discussion with the market’s leaders, everyone supported the government’s position that the market should be open every day for the benefit of all.
Otti said, “We are single-minded about rooting out insecurity in Abia State because we know that no government can succeed in the face of insecurity, violence, armed and kidnapping.”
The governor said that gadgets would be deployed at strategic places to ensure the security of lives and property in the state. He added that his administration is poised to ensure Abians enjoy a great Christmas this year, saying, “This government will not get involved in supporting insecurity. Our devices will be installed in strategic places.”
‘Efforts On To Secure Kanu’s Release’
While responding to questions from newsmen, the governor said that his administration was deploying a different approach to secure the release of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. He added that such approach is not for public consumption.
“I believe in result rather than media hype. We do not want the media noise. We are working very hard to ensure his release and the truth of the matter is that it’s not the present government that incarcerated Nnamdi Kanu. My personal position is that the new government does not need to inherit wrong thing of the previous administration.”
The governor expressed optimism that his approach would yield the needed result, and it is only when the result has been achieved that the public would be informed about it.
