JUST IN: COURT RESERVES JUDGEMENT IN GOV. ABBA YUSUF’S APPEAL
In his appeal contesting his dismissal by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has asked the Court of Appeal, located in Abuja, to postpone making a decision.
The tribunal had declared 165,663 of Yusuf’s votes illegal on September 20, therefore nullifying his election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission did not sign or mark the ballot papers, the panel ruled. As such, it proclaimed Nasiru Gawuna, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, the victor of the gubernatorial contest.
Yusuf filed an appeal against the tribunal’s decision because he was unhappy with it and asked the court to set it aside.
