ONDO POLITICS: APC CHAIR PROMISES END TO CRISIS AFTER TINUBU’S INTERVENTION

After months of conflict between factions loyal to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and his deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Ade Adetimehin, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, promised that the party would make sure all parties involved honour their commitments. This action followed President Bola Tinubu’s late Friday intervention in the political crisis in Ondo State.

This means that Governor Akeredolu remains the state’s governor, Aiyedatiwa remains the deputy governor, and members of the State Executive Council continue to carry out their respective responsibilities while the leadership of the state’s House of Assembly and the APC Chapter in Ondo State maintain status, according to a statement released on Saturday by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Advisor to the President on Media & Publicity.

Adetimehin stated in his speech that the political unrest that had plagued the state over the previous few months had returned to normal as a result of President Tinubu’s involvement.

He expressed his satisfaction with the deliberations’ outcome and thanked the president for his prompt intervention. He also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to acting as a watchdog to ensure that the new pledges are kept.

He said, “Today is my happiest moment. And I know sanity has come to Ondo State. So, on behalf of the teeming supporters of our party in the state, we appreciate our leader, Mr. President.”

“PDP has crumbled in the state; virtually, they decamp every day. The only problem we have is the one you have solved for us today. And that problem has been resolved permanently,” Adetimehin stated.

Prior to this, it was reported that at a late-night meeting on Friday at the State House in Abuja, amid negotiations between President Bola Tinubu and the Deputy Governor, representatives of Governor Akeredolu, federal and state lawmakers from Ondo, representatives of the state’s All Progressives Congress chapter, and other stakeholders in the state, the Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, made a commitment to support commissioners and officials in managing the state’s affairs.

Additionally, Oladiji Olamide, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, decided to put a stop to any attempts to remove Aiyedatiwa from office.

Following nearly six hours of discussion, the president and state representatives—among them members of the All Progressives Congress—passed the resolutions.

Likewise, Princess Oladunni Odu, the Secretary to the State Government, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for bringing peace back to Ondo State.

But she pledged that everyone involved would maintain their composure and work together as a party.

“Our Father, the President, has taken the trouble to settle our rancour in Ondo State. We owe you all the gratitude, Sir. We will not disappoint you. We have taken every word you said. And we are going home as one united family under the party, APC”, she said.
