JUST IN: AIYEDATIWA PRESIDES OVER ONDO STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING
Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiw chaired a State Executive Council meeting on Thursday, ending months of squabbling between the legislative and executive branches of the Ondo State government. Following months of conflict between Ondo State’s legislative and executive branches, Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiw chaired a meeting of the State Executive Council on Thursday.
The exco meeting is the result of months of political backstabbing between the followers of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and the deputy governor.
The governor’s absence—he has been out of the state for months owing to illness—caused the problem.
The conflicting groups convened in Abuja last Friday under President Bola Tinubu’s call, and it was decided that the deputy governor should carry out his deputy governor responsibilities.
The exco meeting might be a sign that the state’s political standoff is about to end.
