JUST IN: FG FUNDED 422 PERSONS DELEGATES TO COP28 SUMMIT IN DUBAI – MINISTER
According to Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, 422 participants in the ongoing COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), are being sponsored by the Federal Government.
The minister revealed this in a statement on Monday in response to the issue that surrounded 1,411 Nigerian delegates who had registered for the meeting.
In preparation for the summit, which is scheduled to conclude on December 12, 2023, President Bola Tinubu left Abuja on November 29, 2023.
Since then, the number of Nigerian delegates to the summit has been the subject of controversy, with many on social media criticising the government for being “insensitive” to their economic suffering brought on by the termination of the petrol subsidy in mid-2023. Nigerians ranked China as the country with the most delegates.
