OSIMHEN WINS AIC SERIE A FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR AWARD
Victor Osimhen has been named Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Footballer of the Year for the 2022/23 season.
The 24-year-old won the award at the Gran Gala Del Calcio held in milan on Monday.
Osimhen played a pivotal role in helping Napoli win their first Serie A title in 33 years.
He was also included in the Serie A best 11 for the 2022–2023 season.
Osimhen scored 26 goals in 32 league appearances for Napoli to become the League’s highest gol scorer, making history as the first African player to achieve the feat.
The Nigerian international was named the eighth-best footballer in the world at the 2023 Ballon D’Or ceremony, becoming the first Nigerian to be named in the top 10.
He also made the shortlist for 2023 CAF Footballer of the Year Award.
