CRIME: POLICE INSPECTOR ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY SHOOTING MOTORIST IN DELTA
After reportedly shooting a driver at Ekrerhavwe Junction in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, a police inspector was taken into custody in Delta.
One day after Lucky, the victim, was fatally shot while the inspector was doing stop-and-search duties, the Delta State Police Command detained the unidentified individual.
Bright Edafe, the state’s police public relations officer, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.
He stated that, upon learning of the tragic news, Delta State Police Commissioner CP Wale Abass promptly issued an order for the arrest and imprisonment of the misbehaving police officer.
Abass also directed that the officer be immediately transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Asaba for a thorough and speedy investigation.
“CP Wale Abass commiserates the injured victim, wishing him a speedy recovery. He also noted that the Force, being a disciplined organization, will not condone such cruel action by any member of the Force,” Edafe stated.
Additionally, the police commissioner has promised that internal disciplinary actions, including criminal prosecution, will be taken against the offending officer.
In addition, Abass urged the populace to maintain composure and adherence to the law, promising that justice would not only be served but also be perceived as having been served.
