SHETTIMA RESCHEDULES KADUNA VISIT TO THURSDAY

Senator Kashim Shettima, the vice president, has delayed his trip to Kaduna State.

Shettima opted to reschedule his Wednesday visitation to the impacted communities for Thursday.

Three days after the fatal airstrike in the north-western state of Kaduna that left over 85 people dead and numerous others injured, the government of the state made this information known in a succinct statement.

The No. 2 citizen’s visit was postponed, but no explanation was provided.

Local and international watchdogs have denounced Sunday’s terrible tragedy and called for investigations and a systematic assessment of procedural procedures.

Since then, the Army has accepted responsibility for the mishap. During his visit, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, expressed regret to the community and pledged to ensure that a similar occurrence would not happen again.

The CDS was accompanied by Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence.

At the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna, where he accepted the CDS and minister, Dr. Shuaibu Musa, the deputy chief medical director, stated that although 71 patients were admitted, one of them passed away last night.

“So, we have a total of 71 patients that were brought in. Of these 71, one died last night. So, we had “Most of them, we have stabilized, those that needed blood, we transfused. For those that needed surgery, emergency surgery, we did carry out the emergency surgeries and many of them are now stable and we are about to start discharging some of them that are even stable.

“Some of them with minor degrees of injuries may be discharged to the community.”
