Former Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Obi, has tasked Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, with finishing the team’s rebuild and beginning to win Premier League games.

Mikel revealed this on his Obi One Podcast, bemoaning the Blue’s absence of leadership.

ā€œAre we just going to sit on the fence and say we are still in a rebuilding process?ā€ Mikel said during his Obi One Podcast.

ā€œThere is no time for that. We need to start winning games. When I look at the team, it comes down to a lack of leaders.

“In the game against Everton, I looked around the pitch, there was not one single leader. There is no one to come out on the pitch to go at your colleagues and say, ā€˜Wake up, what are you doing?ā€™ ā€“ this is what we had before.

ā€œThe likes of Didier Drogba, John Terry, and Frank Lampard, when you are having a s*** game, these guys would make you wake up.

ā€œI look at the manager; I didnā€™t see him scream at one of the players to say, ā€˜Do your f****** job, wake up, make sure you run around and make sure we win the game.ā€™ā€

Additionally, he criticized Marc Cucurella, the left-back for the Blues, saying the Spaniard was not up to Chelsea’s standards.

Following his Ā£62 million summer transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion to Chelsea, Cucurella has found it difficult to make an impression.

ā€œHe is not Chelsea standard,ā€ Mikel added.

ā€œWhen you look at the left-backs we have had, Ashley Cole, Cesar Azpilicueta, William Gallas, you are talking about these players who have stayed at the club for many years, played so many games, and the standard they have set for that position. For me, heā€™s not at Chelsea standard.ā€
