MOHBAD: NAIRA MARLEY ACCUSES IYABO OJO OF DEFAMATION
Naira Marley, a Nigerian musician, has accused actress Iyabo Ojo of libel and is requesting a public apology and ₦500 million in damages.
Lekan Ojo, Marley’s attorney, said in a letter dated December 12, 2023, that the actress had “defamed” his client in an Instagram post from September of that same year.
The defence team for Naira Marley further argued that the actress—who is well-known for her role on The Real Housewives of Lagos—had linked their client to the harm done to the late Nigerian musician Ilerioluwa “Mohbad” Aloba.
The attorney also claimed that the public was misled into believing that Marley was involved in Mohbad’s demise by the actress’ remarks.
Marley’s attorney threatened legal action if Ojo did not comply with his demand that she withdraw her remarks within seven days of receiving the letter.
They also demanded that the apology be posted within the allotted period on Ojo’s official Instagram account.
