ENTERTAINMENT: SPYRO DEFENDS HIS PERFORMANCE AT HARVESTERS CHURCH
Nigerian musician Oludipe David, better known by his stage name Spyro, has responded to the controversy surrounding Sunday’s Christmas carol service at the Harvesters International Gospel Centre in Lagos State.
According to a national daily, the artist received backlash for participating in the church’s carol service.
The musician was seen singing his hit song “Only Fine Girl” at a drama performance at the church in a viral video that the dailes were able to obtain.
While several Nigerians expressed disapproval of the development, others chastised Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters International Christian Centre for inviting Spyro and other celebrities to the gathering.
Celebrities including Daniel Effiong, Bisola Ayeola, Dorathy Bachor, Sharon Ooja, Uzor Arukwe, Adeh Gbolahan, and Kenneth Ophopho were invited by the church, according to the event flier.
Spryo responded to the controversies by tweeting, “Just noticed that Pastor B and I have been getting dragged because I did a drama ministry at my church.” Allow me to clarify one point very clearly!
