Agency Reports
An unidentified woman has been crushed to death by a truck allegedly owned by the Dangote group, in Ogun State.
The incident occurred at Dalemo-Ota, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
The woman was crushed by the truck while she was standing on the side of the road, according to a statement released by the Federal Road Safety Corps on Friday.
The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, stated that “the crash occurred at about 2300hrs late hours of Thursday night, involving a Dangote Truck.” The truck is marked XA354WDP.”
Okpe revealed that one adult male and one adult female were involved in the accident.
She blamed mechanical failure and high speed for the accident. The adult female was declared dead following the accident.
“The suspected cause of the fatal crash was excessive speed and a mechanical fault (break failure) of the Dangote truck, which later hit a female adult standing by the roadside, and she died on the spot.”
She further mentioned that the woman’s body had been placed in the morgue at Ifo General Hospital.
According to Okpe, drivers have been advised by Sector Commander, Anthony Uga to perform routine maintenance on their cars and make sure the brakes work properly before placing them on the road.
She concluded that Uga commiserated with the family of the deceased.
