S’COURT RESERVES JUDGEMENT IN EBONYI STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION APPEAL
In the Ebonyi State gubernatorial election appeal, the Supreme Court has postponed its decision until a later time that will be announced to the involved parties.
On Monday, following the adoption of the parties’ argument briefs, Justice John Okoro reserved the verdict.
The election of Francis Nwifuru as the legitimately elected governor of Ebonyi State had already been upheld by the Court of Appeal in Lagos.
Chukwuma Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party filed an appeal, but it was denied by the three-member panel, chaired by Justice Jummai Sankey, in a unanimous ruling.
Additionally, the panel addressed each of the five points brought forward against the appellant and rejected the appeal due to its lack of validity.
According to Justice Sankey, the PDP and its candidate did not have the legal authority to interfere with the All Progressives Congress’s internal matters over candidate nominations.
