“I DON’T SEE NIGERIA WINNING AFCON 2023” – SUPER EAGLES HERO IDEYE
Super Eagles hero Brown Ideye has stated that Nigeria will not win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations because they lack cohesion and are unstable.
Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro took over the Super Eagles squad two years ago, but he has not inspired much confidence since he got on board.
The team has struggled to win games both at home and away, and they have looked shaky a lot of times.
Nonetheless, Peseiro would be looking to right his wrongs at the AFCON in Ivory Coast later this month.
The former Braga coach invited a strong 25-man squad for the tournament, and on paper, they are one of the favorites. However, Ideye does not share such sentiments as he believes the team is not ready to win the tournament.
“We have good players in camp, but we don’t have a team. We are still building a team because we don’t have a team that can the win the AFCON,” Ideye said on a Twitter space.
“I don’t see this present Eagles winning this AFCON, It’s not possible. We are not ready, we don’t have what it takes.”
Ideye, who played for West Brom, Dynamo Kyiv, Olympiacos, and other European clubs played a crucial role for Nigeria in the run-up to their AFCON triumph in 2013.
