BREAKING: S’COURT REVERSES SACK OF ABBA YUSUF, AFFIRMS HIS ELECTION AS GOVERNOR
The removal of Abba Yusuf as governor of Kano has been overturned by the Supreme Court.
When Justice John Okoro read the main judgement, he stated that the Court of Appeal erred in upholding the tribunal’s ruling that Yusuf did not receive the majority of valid votes cast in the governorship race.
The highest court considered two questions in deciding the case: first, whether the lower court erred in subtracting the governor’s 165,616 votes.
According to Justice Okoro, the tribunal erred when it withheld the governor’s total number of votes.
