In celebration of and remembering the Nigerian Armed Forces, the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, presided over a mass of thanksgiving at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Awka on Sunday.

Along with the events planned to honour the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Soludo underlined the significance of the mass as a chance to show gratitude for the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces.

According to him, the large-scale event was an act of thanksgiving for the Armed Forces’ selfless sacrifices made on behalf of the country and a reminder of the vital role they play in preserving peace and security.

In addition to offering his condolences to the families of those who have died while performing their duties, Soludo prayed for God’s strength for those who risk their lives to defend and safeguard their nation.

He said, “In March 2022, when eight local government areas in Anambra were under siege, it was the professionalism and commitment of the Armed Forces, alongside the Anambra Vigilante services and the support of our people, that ultimately led to the return of peace.

“We expressed deep appreciation and gratitude for the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces, we acknowledged their dedication to serving others.

“My prayers, and those of the good people of Anambra, are continuously with you.”
