TCN ANNOUNCES TWO-DAY BLACKOUT FOR GOMBE, YOLA, AND BAUCHI
Scheduled maintenance of power facilities by the Transmission Company of Nigeria will lead to a power outage for electricity consumers in Gombe and parts of Yola and Bauchi states on Thursday and Friday.
TCN announced that its maintenance crew will be conducting scheduled preventive maintenance on the bay of its T1A 150MVA, 330/132/33kV transformer bay on January 18 and 19, 2024.
The maintenance will be carried out for eight hours each day, from 9 am to 5 pm, according to a statement by TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah.
As part of the maintenance exercise, TCN will transfer the load from T1A 150MVA transformer to its T2A 150MVA transformer in the same substation, resulting in an interruption of bulk power supply to Jos and Yola DisCos through the T1A transformer.
However, the interruption will only affect bulk supply during the transfer period and not for the entire eight-hour maintenance period on both days. It will affect supply to Gombe and some parts of Yola and Bauchi states only during the transfer time on both days.
TCN assured that bulk power supply through the transformer will be restored immediately after the maintenance exercise.
The transmission company expressed regret for any inconvenience this may cause electricity consumers in the affected areas.
In a related development, TCN maintenance crew had previously conducted scheduled preventive maintenance on the Jos-Lafia 330kV transmission lines, which had been inactive for some time.
