LASOS GOVT BEGINS CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL MINING, DREDGING
As part of the drive to curb illegality in the Solid Minerals, Mining sectors, Toll-fee and Revenue points, The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Office of Mineral Resources has commenced a monitoring exercise to all the Dredging, Mining, Toll and Revenue points across the five divisions of Lagos State.
The exercise, which was led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy and Mineral Resources (Office of Mineral Resources), Engr. Abiola Olowu was targeted at curbing illegalities in the Solid Minerals and Mining sectors across the State.
The Special Adviser also added that the visit to the various dredging and mining sites will further provide a pathway towards checkmating adherence to Lagos State dredging and mining guidelines and foster cordial relationships with various stakeholders.
Engr. Olowu further expressed the readiness of the Sanwo-Olu-led administration through the Office of Mineral Resources to begin enforcement of all relevant laws guiding mining and dredging activities in the State.
The Special Adviser, therefore, admonished all the Dredgers and Miners across the State to go and obtain all necessary permits and regularise their operations with the Office of Mineral Resources.
The Special Adviser stated, “The Dredging, Mining, Toll-fee and Revenue points activities across the State are no longer business as usual as officials of the Office of Mineral Resources are all out to enforce the laws regulating Dredging/Mining activities”.
