SPANISH JUDGE PROPOSES RUBIALES GO ON TRIAL FOR WORLD CUP KISS
On Thursday, a Spanish judge suggested that the disgraced former Spanish football chief, Luis Rubiales, be put on trial for the forced kiss he gave World Cup star Jenni Hermoso.
Judge Francisco de Jorge found in a verdict after conducting a preliminary investigation that the kiss “was not consensual and was a unilateral and unexpected move” by Rubiales, who is facing charges of sexual assault and coercion.
The Spanish FA’s head was criticized for the kissing incident.
Meanwhile, FIFA had declared in October 2023 that Rubiales would be suspended for three years.
A few months prior, Rubiales quit due to intense backlash for kissing Hermoso on the lips during the Women’s World Cup victory ceremony.
