LAGOS GOVT TEAM VISITS ARAROMI ILOGBO SCHOOL, COMMISERATES WITH LATE STUDENT’S PARENTS

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Lagos State Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun has led a team of Lagos State Government officials on a condolence visit to the parents of David Babadipo, an SS 1 student of Araromi Ilogbo Senior Secondary School, who died on Thursday 25th of January 2024.

The Commissioner commiserated with the parents on the death of their illustrious child and expressed sadness of the entire Lagos State and its education family for the painful loss.

The Commissioner assured the parents of the Ministry’s support during this trying time and promised to cooperate with the police in unravelling the actual cause of the student’s death.

Alli-Balogun also led the team to the school premises that comprise Araromi Ilogbo Junior and Senior Grammar Schools, as well as Araromi Ilogbo Junior Secondary School to address teachers, who felt traumatised by the unfortunate incident, and the violent protest that occurred on Friday 26th January, 2024.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Hon Samson Olatunde, who, before today’s visit, had intervened in the crisis; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Abayomi Abolaji; the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary Education District II,  Mrs. Anike Adekanye and the Commissioner IV in the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Idowu Abimbola.

Recall that commotion erupted at Araromi Ilogbo Secondary School on Thursday when some students of the school protested the demise of one of their colleagues who was allegedly flogged by a teacher.
