LASG BEGINS INTENSIVE RE-TRAINING OF 309 LASTMA OFFICERS
The Lagos State Government has commenced an extensive in-house training program today for 309 junior officers across zones, in keeping with the ongoing strategic realignment of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) towards professionalism and more efficient service delivery to the public.

During the Opening Ceremony of the “Re-Training Programme,” Mr. Bakare-Oki Olalekan, the General Manager of LASTMA, revealed that the exercise aligned with “Traffic Management and Transportation,” one of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s fundamental programs as encapsulated in the administration’s “Themes+” pillars for state development.
Mr. Bakare-Oki went on to reveal that the main goals of the retraining exercise were to rebrand the agency as one that would provide a sophisticated and reliable Traffic Management System (TMS) in the state and lessen traffic jams all throughout the state.
He verified that the four-day exercise, which would retrain the first batch of 81 junior officers (males and females), started today and would likely end on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
The statement partly read, “We map out new re-training modules to aid effective execution of duties as well as enlighten our Officers on new innovative ways to optimize their operations to meet up with International standard and best practices in traffic management”

“Earlier in his welcome address, Lastma Director of Human Capacity, Development and Specialized Training Mr. Akinpelu Ayuba thanked the Government for approving the re-training programme for the agency.
“He maintained that the exercise would promote professionalosm and quality road management service delivery across the State.
“Course contents for the retraining exercise include: Leadership Qualities, Operational Guidelines, Empathy and Emotionally Management, Enforcement without Agression, Traffic Incidents Management and Safety, Attitudinal Change in Traffic Management, Human Right Law Standards, Civil Service Rules and Regulations, Discipline, Ethics and Standard in Traffic Management, Enhanced Capacity, Service Efficiency and Reliability and Religious Discretion in Traffic Management, it added.”
