AFCON: NWABALI CLEARED TO FACE ANGOLA AS MUSA, OSAYI-SAMUEL TO MISS OUT
Stanley Nwabali is expected to be in goal when the Super Eagles take on Angola in their quarter-final tie at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Friday.
There were fears the Chippa United goalie could miss the clash with the Black Antelopes after sustaining a mild ligament injury in Nigeria’s Round of 16 victory against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon last Saturday.
Nwabali however took part in the team’s training session on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old has also been cleared by the team’s medics to face Pedro Goncalves’ men.
The shot stopper has conceded just once in four outings at the AFCON 2023 finals.
Meanwhile captain Ahmed Musa and Bright Osayi-Samuel have been ruled out of the game.
Musa injured his thigh in training this week, while Osayi-Samuel is nursing a knee injury.
Musa is yet to make an appearance for the Super Eagles in Cote d’Ivoire.
Osayi-Samuel has made two appearances for the three-time African champions in the competition.
