COURT REMANDS MAN, 44, OVER ALLEGED MURDER
On Wednesday, an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan issued an order remanding Olumide Monday, 44, in a correctional facility over alleged murder.
Monday was accused of Usman Bala’s, 35, murder, whose home address was not disclosed.
However, the defendant’s appeal was rejected by Magistrate Mr. Olaolu Olanipekun due to a lack of jurisdiction.
He gave the police instructions to send the case file back to the Director of Public Prosecutions’ (DPP) office so that legal counsel could be obtained.
He then postponed the case’s mention until March 27.
Prior to this, the prosecutor, Mr. Philip Amusan, informed the court that the defendant was allegedly found to have committed the offense in the Iwo Road area in Ibadan on February 1 at 11:00 a.m.
Amusan claimed that Monday unlawfully stabbed Bala in the buttocks, resulting in his death.
According to him, the offense was in violation of Oyo State’s 2000 Criminal Laws, Section 319.
