LASPPPA CONDUCTS GENERAL AUDIT EXERCISE ON BUILDINGS IN LAGOS
Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) has commenced a general audit exercise on buildings in Lagos State to assess compliance with Planning Permit Laws and Regulations, just as it encouraged Owners/Developers to regularise areas of default.
Speaking on the exercise on Monday, the Director, Monitoring and Compliance Unit of the Authority, Tpl Iyiola Olarinde said the exercise is also designed to carry out monitoring of buildings under construction to verify if they obtained a Planning Permit and confirm that relevant professionals are the ones handling the building projects to avoid building collapse.
According to him, the exercise is to restrategise on previous enforcement embarked upon as well as assess Owners’/Developers’ responses to Notices issued on their properties.
He said, “During this special exercise, all properties that have contravened, been served notices, sealed and have broken the seals will be visited again and made to face the wrath of the Law”.
Visits to some of the properties revealed that most that remained unsealed with stop work orders, still attached to their gates or walls dubiously find other ways to get entrance into the premises to continue construction.
The District Areas visited were Kosofe, Eti-Osa North, Ikeja, Surulere, Ikorodu Central and Igbogbo Baiyeku Districts.
