YOBE GOV, BUNI CALLS FOR CALM AS TRICYCLE OPERATORS STAGE PROTEST
Yobe State Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni, has called for calm amid a protest by commercial tricycle operators that disrupted social and economic activities in Damaturu on Tuesday.
Governor Buni stated the importance of utilising established channels for addressing grievances rather than resorting to actions that could disturb the peace in the state.
In a statement by Mamman Muhammad, the Director-General of Media and Press Affairs to the Governor, Buni stated the significance of working within the bounds of the law and respecting constituted authorities.
He warned against actions that could potentially disrupt public peace in the state.
Expressing concerns over the Tuesday protest, Governor Buni acknowledged past challenges and stressed the need to safeguard the hard-earned peace and harmony in the state, urging organisations, associations, parents, and guardians to educate their members and children about the consequences of causing disorder.
The governor reiterated the government’s readiness to take decisive action against anyone who threatens public peace.
To address existing differences between Keke NAPEP operators, the Yobe State Road Transport Agency (YOROTA), and security agencies, he directed the Secretary to the State Government, Alh. Baba Malam Wali, along with security agency heads, to collaborate and develop comprehensive security measures.
