POLICE ARREST FOUR SUSPECTED CULTISTS IN LAGOS
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four suspects for alleged involvement in various crimes in the Apapa Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were taken into custody on charges of illegal gun possession, armed robbery, and cult membership.
Arrested suspects include Mayowa Shitu, Jamie Alarape, Bashiru Munsuru, and Lekan Akintunde.
Meanwhile, our correspondent was informed by a police source that the suspects terrorize the neighborhood by robbing its residents of their valuables.
The source added that they were arrested following a police operation in the Abule-Ado and Ijora Badia areas of the state on Friday.
Some of the items recovered during the operation include two pistols, eight phones, and charms.
“Some policemen carried out an operation at Ijora Badia and Abule-ado, which led to the arrest of the following; Mayowa Shitu, aged 29 years; Jamie Alarape, aged 26 years; Bashiru Munsuru, aged 29 years; and Lekan Akintunde, aged 29 years.
“During the operation, two locally made pistols, three life cartridges, eight phones, one iron cutter, and charms were recovered,” the source stated.
However, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest to our correspondent.
Hundeyin stated that during the operation, firearms were found on the suspects, adding that an investigation would commence immediately.
He said, “Weapons were recovered from them during the operation, and the investigation will begin immediately.”
This is coming barely a month after the state police command arrested three suspected cultists in the Ishashi area of the state.
Hundeyin said that the three suspects were arrested on Saturday at about 6:30 am and they will soon be charged in court.
He stated, “The police got information that some boys were seen in military uniform disturbing the peace of the Oke-Odan community in Ishashi.”
The police boss added that operatives from the Ishashi division were “quickly drafted” to the community and arrested the suspects aged between 24 and 39.
Hundeyin said that an investigation has begun and the suspects will soon be charged in court.
