THREE-STOREY BUILDING COLLAPSES WHILE UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN ITAFAJI, LAGOS ISLAND
Preliminary Report:
A three story building under construction at No 1 Isalegangan street by Itafaji market collapsed around 10:15am this morning.
The Agency responded to the scene of incident and conducted a thorough assessment as follows
1. It was observed that structure collapsed on its own without external factor
2. The access street is very narrow and will be difficult for heavy duty vehicular operations.
The recommendation is that
Lasbca carry out the manual demolition of the few pillars that are still standing.
The manual site clearance will be coordinated by Lasema Lekki base so that the road could be free from the debris related to construction work before the collapse.
Members of the public are being engaged in order to stay away from the incident scene
